The Frontenac Rifle and Pistol Club (FRPC), with approximately 540 members, is located within city limits on a 100 acre, park like property at 1096 McAdoo's Lane, Kingston, Ontario. Founded in 1950, it is now in an industrial area of the city with only a few understanding residential neighbours nearby. To promote this understanding, outdoor shooting is only allowed during specified daylight hours.
FRPC boasts a large clubhouse with an eight-position 60 foot indoor range suitable for prone .22 rim-fire rifle or standing .22 rim-fire pistol. Center-fire lead pistol loads can also be fired indoors, however, center-fire rifle is prohibited for safety reasons. The clubhouse also has a good sized classroom/meeting room, member's lounge, kitchen and two restrooms. The clubhouse has no storage facilities, therefore, no guns or ammunition are stored on site. The clubhouse and indoor range are open twelve months of the year and are used extensively by the members. The outdoor shooting facilities are varied. They include 100, 200, 300 and 400 yard, high-powered, rifle range, two 30 yard pistol/shotgun ranges, a 50 yard pistol/shotgun range and a 25 yard pistol bunker range for shooting at metallic targets. All ranges are U shaped with a minimum of 18 foot high backstops and side berms. These ranges are open twelve months of the year and are used extensively by the members, weather permitting.
The front of the property is park-like with a large, groomed, treed and grassy area suitable for picnics and BBQs with ample parking spaces on either side of the clubhouse. The rear of the property is still pristine wilderness with only deer trails to mark the area.
